CNIM Systèmes Industriels is to supply six new VTMs to the DGA
CNIM Systèmes Industriels is to supply six new VTMs to the DGA – the French Directorate General of Armaments.
The VTM, or Munitions Transport Vehicle, is designed to transport chemical shells dating from the First World War from their storage sites to their destruction sites whilst ensuring the highest possible level of safety.
The first four VTMs were designed and manufactured 10 years ago by CNIM Systèmes Industriels on behalf of the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
In 2025, the DGA launched a programme to renew the VTM fleet, to support the ramp-up of the destruction plant.
CNIM Systèmes Industriels submitted a bid and was awarded the contract in the summer of 2026.
We will therefore deliver six new Next-Generation VTMs by 2030.

The vehicles will be manufactured identically, as they must interface with existing secure handling equipment and infrastructure. However, the VTMs will be integrated onto new-generation chassis with optimised control systems to manage obsolescence.
CNIM Systèmes Industriels has commissioned Renault Trucks to supply the base vehicle and Dynasafe to supply the armoured containment enclosure.
As the prime contractor, CNIM Systèmes Industriels will be responsible for system engineering, the manufacture of the control and command system, the integration of the various components making up the VTM, factory acceptance testing, trials and staff training.
